Overview
This assessment is recommended for children and young people who require a cognitive ability assessment where language or communication may affect typical assessment results. Speech, language or communication difficulties English language learners Culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds Hard of hearing or deaf individuals Diagnosed communication disorders such as Aphasia, Autism Spectrum Disorder or Selective Mutism The assessment uses non-verbal tools to understand cognitive ability where language-based testing may not provide a reliable picture.

How it works
Assessment Process
The assessment process is broken into clear sessions so the clinician can gather background information, complete the required assessment tasks, prepare the report and discuss the results with you.
Session 1: Parent / Guardian Intake Session
1 hour session. Information gathering session.
No children are to attend the intake session This can be conducted in clinic or via Telehealth.
Session 2: Child Assessment Session
2 hour session. Cognitive Assessment with Child – Wechsler Non-Verbal Scale of Ability (WNV) and/or TONI-4 Must be conducted in clinic
Session 3: Parent / Guardian Feedback Session
1 hour session. In clinic or via Telehealth.
Report timeframe: 2 to 3 weeks from assessment date
Comprehensive Report
The clinician completes scoring, interpretation and report preparation after the assessment sessions.
What to expect
Report and Fees
Please note that there is a two to three week turn around for report writing. Total cost: $3390.
A $550 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking. This assessment is not covered by Medicare.
If you have private health insurance, please contact your provider to see how much they can cover for you. The private health code for assessment is 100.
