Brilliant Minds Psychology works collaboratively with GPs to support the assessment and ongoing care of children and adolescents with possible ADHD.

Our Role in the ADHD Assessment Process

While GPs oversee medical assessment, diagnosis and medication management, psychologists can provide a more detailed understanding of how attention and executive functioning difficulties affect a child’s learning, behaviour and development.

Cognitive and Behavioural Assessment for ADHD

This assessment is designed for children and adolescents experiencing difficulties with attention, concentration, impulsivity, hyperactivity, organisation or behaviour at home or school.

What the Assessment Includes

• Assessment of cognitive abilities, including reasoning, memory, processing speed and problem-solving
• Evaluation of executive functioning, including attention, planning, emotional regulation and self-control
• Review of developmental and relevant clinical history
• Behavioural screening and input from parents and teachers

What Families Receive

Families receive:

• A comprehensive written report outlining the assessment findings
• A clear explanation of the child’s cognitive, learning and attention profile
