Overview
This assessment is designed to help understand your child’s learning and attention needs, particularly if they are having challenges with concentration, inattention, or hyperactivity at home or school. The assessment looks at your child’s thinking skills (cognitive abilities) and executive functioning, the mental processes that help with planning, focus, and self-control.
Together, these areas help us build a clear picture of your child’s strengths and where they might need extra support. You’ll receive a detailed report outlining your child’s results and practical recommendations for supporting them at school and at home.
What's included
- Parents complete an online questionnaire
- Teachers are provided with a paper questionnaire
- Assessment components with child completed on one day
- Comprehensive Written report: You’ll receive a detailed written report summarising your child’s results, strengths, and support recommendations. Please allow 2–3 weeks for report preparation after testing is complete.
Not included
- School visits are not included in this assessment package
- This assessment is not covered by Medicare.
How it works
Assessment Process
The assessment process is broken into clear sessions so the clinician can gather background information, complete the required assessment tasks, prepare the report and discuss the results with you.
Session 1: Parent / Guardian Intake Session (1 Hour)
This first appointment is for parents or caregivers only. The clinician takes time to understand your child’s background, learning needs and current challenges.
This session can be completed in clinic or via Telehealth.
Session 2: Cognitive Assessment Session (2 Hours)
Your child completes interactive tasks that help the clinician understand how they think and learn, using either the WPPSI-IV or WISC-V depending on age.
This session is completed in clinic.
Session 3: Attention and Behaviour Assessment Session (1 Hour)
This session focuses on your child’s attention, focus and impulse control.
Standardised tools may include the TEA-Ch2, Conners CPT-3 or CATA depending on your child’s age.
Session 4: Parent / Guardian Feedback Session (1 Hour)
The clinician goes through the results, explains what they mean and provides recommendations to support your child at home and school.
This can be held in person or via Telehealth, usually 2 to 3 weeks after testing.
What to expect
Report and Fees
You’ll receive a detailed report outlining your child’s results and practical recommendations for supporting them at school and at home. Total cost: $2580.
A $550 deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your assessment. This deposit is non-refundable due to the preparation and appointment time allocated for each family.
This assessment is not covered by Medicare. Some private health funds may offer rebates; please check with your provider using item code 100.
