Overview
This assessment is for children from 12 months to 5 years where the ADOS-2 has been specifically recommended by a paediatrician as part of their broader evaluation. If this is not the case, the child autism assessment pathway may be more appropriate.
The ADOS-2 uses structured activities to observe behaviours associated with autism. Activities are selected based on the child’s age and communication abilities.

How it works
Assessment Process
The assessment process is broken into clear sessions so the clinician can gather background information, complete the required assessment tasks, prepare the report and discuss the results with you.
Session 1: Parent / Guardian Intake Session
Conducted in clinic or via Telehealth. This session is for parents or guardians only.
The clinician gathers information about your child’s developmental history, current concerns and paediatrician recommendation.
Session 2: Child Assessment Session
Conducted in clinic and must be completed in person. This session is completed with your child and parent/caregiver present.
The clinician completes the ADOS testing session.
